Programm Sequence

Day 1 - Sigiriya

Elephant Orphanage

In the morning you will drive to Kandy and on the way you will have the opportunity to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and mingle with the elephants there. Established in 1975, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. The aim of the orphanage is to protect and care for the orphaned elephants in the island's jungle. The elephants are provided with a natural habitat where they are taken to the river twice a day and elephants under the age of three are bottle fed by volunteers.

Visit to a tea factory

Then we will take you to the Kandy Tea Factory. Sri Lanka plays an extremely important role in this history as one of the world's largest tea producers and there is a high chance that the tea you drink at home begins its life in Sri Lanka. Take a tour of this small factory to learn about the time-consuming process of making tea and marvel at heavy machinery left over from British rule at the time of the Industrial Revolution. You will end the tour with a tea tasting.

Royal Botanical Garden

The Botanical Gardens in Kandy are known for their beautiful flowers and trees; especially orchids. The title Royal comes into play because they were once only open to the Kandyan royalty. With 60 hectares of land and an area of 2500 square meters, this is Sri Lanka's largest and most impressive botanical garden.

Afterward, check in to your hotel in Kandy.

Dance show

In the evening, enjoy a cultural dance show at the Kandy Lake Club. The Kandy Lake Club Cultural Dance Show is an inspiring show of Sri Lankan art, dance and cultural heritage that is a must-see for any visitor visiting the historic city of Kandy.

Temple of the Tooth

Then finally, we take you to the Temple of the Tooth during the evening ceremony time. Every day there are ceremonies (at 6am, 10am and 6pm) where the tooth, kept in an ornate golden case, is taken out of its chamber for devout Buddhists to see. Flower offerings are placed in front of the chamber of the sacred tooth, prayers fill the room and drummers fill the air with rhythmic songs. People line up to get a glimpse of the golden case up close. Even though the room is sticky with sweat and humidity and the space is cramped for both devotees and tourists, it is worth every second of your time. You get a bit of a real feel for the ritual, tradition and significance of this place..

Day 2 - Sigiriya

Sigiriya

The next morning, drive to Sigiriya. On the way, stop at the Herb and Spice Garden and the Hindu Temple in Mathale

After that, visit the Lion Rock in Sigiriya - with about 1200 steps to climb. This climbing activity is doable and recommended to most tourists as you can see some beautiful engraved frescoes of the ancient times and also the remains of a fortress on the top of the rock, not forgetting the tremendous view from the top.

Cave temple of Dambulla

Finally, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. Dambulla is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. This complex is located 160 meters above the ground in the middle of a huge boulder. There are more than 80 documented caves in the area. The main attractions are spread over five caves that house statues and paintings. The main Dambulla Cave Temples and Sigiriya Rock are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Real people, real experiences

Best Decision in Sri Lanka - to book Tony
Had been a solo traveler in Sri Lanka. I felt I needed some time in at the Beach but still wanted to see a lot from the Country.
I wrote before my journey with Tony via Mail. Everything was easy and all my wishes he put in a few Tours.
I did the Yala, Kandy, Sigiriya and Galle Day Tours.
Its was such a wonderful experience I felt always safe and even as a female solo traveler I was always feeling like traveling with good friends or family.
His knowledge is exceptional. To every question I had he could explain me so many things. He always asked if I need anything and if everything is ok.
Every Tour was a new highlight. Unfortunately it was raining so much at dambulla Cavetemple that all my clothes were soaked but it was on the way back and I really wanted to see the Cavetemple.
I had even in the rain a fantastic time.
A wonderful guide and family.
He invited me to his home to have a tea with his family it was so lovely.
I Will definitely come back and next time I want to do a roundtour to enjoy this wonderful country even more.
I would give 10 stars if it would be possible.
